Amazon to invest 2000 crores in India – For Happier Workers

In a major move to reinforce its commitment to efficiency, safety, and innovation, Amazon India has announced an investment exceeding $233 million in 2025. The funding will be directed toward expanding and upgrading its logistics network, introducing advanced technologies, and strengthening employee and associate support systems.

Enhancing Delivery Capabilities and Infrastructure

This investment marks the latest phase in Amazon’s ongoing mission to build a robust operations network across India. The company aims to further improve its processing capabilities, speed up order fulfilment, and bolster its infrastructure to meet growing demand. Fulfilment centres across the country will see upgrades that not only enhance efficiency but also prioritize accessibility and safety, particularly for people with disabilities.

According to Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Operations for Amazon India and Australia, the company’s focus has always been on providing dependable and fast service, backed by an operations ecosystem that supports its delivery partners and customers alike.

“By scaling our logistics infrastructure and integrating cutting-edge tech, we aim to create a more responsive and sustainable network,” Singh stated.

Focusing on Workplace Well-being

A significant part of the investment will be dedicated to the health, safety, and financial wellness of Amazon’s operations workforce. Several ongoing programs will be expanded:

Ashray: Offers rest areas for delivery personnel, complete with essential amenities like seating, water, charging stations, and restrooms—accessible even to non-Amazon drivers.

Samridhi: Focused on financial literacy and guidance for associates and drivers.

Pratidhi: Supports the educational journey of associates’ children through scholarships.

Sushruta: Addresses the medical needs of truck drivers operating within Amazon’s network.

Additionally, Amazon India is continuing its push to provide on-site medical support and insurance for all staff, including those out on delivery. A new initiative is also underway to provide free health check-ups to over 80,000 delivery personnel by the end of 2025 through medical camps held nationwide.

Investing in Smarter, Safer Tech

As part of its modernization push, Amazon is rolling out technologies to enhance delivery route planning, promote road safety, and improve workflow efficiency. The company is developing tools that analyze delivery route complexity to ensure fair distribution of workloads and optimize timing.

Updates to the Driver App will offer better transparency on earnings and benefits, along with a simplified navigation system for areas with unstructured addressing. Visual item verification will help reduce errors, and a new helmet compliance system will ensure delivery partners are adhering to safety protocols before they even hit the road.

With these comprehensive upgrades, Amazon India aims to continue setting benchmarks for operational excellence while supporting its workforce and expanding its footprint across the country.
